Not much to look at but one of the few tools Terry
had labelled as Gabriel, London. It took me ages to find the very
faint mark that makes this the earliest named button
chuck brace I've handled. By the early 19th century, the Gabriel
Brothers were mostly lumber and tool dealers , so this brace would
have been made by somebody else before ca 1820. Beech with a lignum
vitae head and a few age cracks. $ 100 |
