Very early double iron stick and rebate sash plane by
Lund, London 1805-1831. This is the only early English double
function window maker's sash plane I've come across. A later
American version is listed below. Eventually these planes turned
into double-bodied plough-type planes that could alter the width
between the rebate and sash cut. I suspect most of them were made
for the Scottish and the American market. $ 110 |

In Terry's shed, crammed with thousands of items,
this is the one lot that caught my eye: an absolutely amazing set of
large screw boxes from a giant 18" long for 3" screws, down to 1/2"
screws. Only one of the taps seems to be the right fit ( shown in
the second largest 2 1/2" screw box). Makers marks include
turn of the century Birmingham and Sheffield makers Atkin & Son,
Ibbotson - the largest from the Phoenix Works even retained the
original stickers. Best shop display I can imagine. I have them
sitting on top of the shelf in my office and admire them every day.
You'll have to dig deep to take them from me. Well, maybe
a bit less, say $ 1,500 1,000
plus an extra $ 150 if you want them shipped overseas. |

From the wedge to the riveted radius skate,
everything on this small coachmaker's plough plane spells 18th
century. Hard to know where it came from. The hand grip at the heel
suggest a European influence but the overall appearance makes me
believe it's American. It's marked T. Churchman - not a listed maker
or, more likely, a former owner. 7 1/2" long. $ 120 |
