Stanley 190 Rabbet Plane

offered 1886 - 1962

8" long with a 1 1/2 inch cutter

improved version of the 180 rebate plane with a nicker and a depth stop. More see 180

Stanley 190 W Weatherstrip Plane

offered for a very short time, SW vintage

8" long with a 1 1/2 inch cutter

Not  much is documented about this rare plane . It has identical markings to the 190 i.e. it is not marked 190W. What makes it different  is the runner / skate along the sole. It is secured with 2 countersunk  metal screws from the bottom and has a protruding skate front. Some Stanley guides list the runner as secured with 3 screws - I have yet to see one with three screws. Because this plane is so rare I can't be sure but I know for a fact that the only two examples I know of looked like the one pictured here. Please let me know if you have an identical plane or if you actually have one with three screws.

PS: I have now two independent picture documents plus one email confirmation of the plane with exactly the same configuration as the one pictured. All of them are SW models - the plot thickens!
