Stanley planes by numbers 16
Stanley 16 block plane offered 1888 - 1942 Identical to No 9 1/2 except for the finish. The plane in the picture illustrates how hard it is to separate the many different models. The 16 is the same as the 9 1/2 but it has nickel plated trimmings. In Stanley jargon nickel plated trimmings include lever cap, (depth) adjuster nut and front knob. The nickel plating on the brass adjuster screw and the knob is thin and usually wears off with use - as you can see in the picture.
